What Is DTF Printing?

Direct‑to‑Film (DTF) is a modern printing method where your design is printed onto a special film using high‑quality inks. The printed film is then transferred onto the garment using heat and pressure. This process creates vibrant, durable prints that work beautifully on a wide range of fabrics — cotton, polyester, blends, fleece, hoodies, and more.

How the DTF Process Works

Here’s the step‑by‑step breakdown:

1. Your Order Is Received

Once you place an order, your design is automatically sent to our production partner, Gelato, at the facility closest to your location.

2. Your Design Is Printed on Film

Gelato prints your artwork onto a specialized PET film using high‑resolution DTF printers and water‑based inks.

3. Powder Adhesive Is Applied

A fine adhesive powder is added to the printed film. This powder is what bonds the design to your garment.

4. The Film Is Cured

The film goes through a curing process where heat melts the adhesive powder, preparing it for transfer.

5. The Design Is Heat‑Pressed Onto the Garment

The cured film is placed on your chosen apparel item and pressed with high heat and pressure. This permanently bonds the design to the fabric.

6. Quality Check

Gelato inspects the print, alignment, and garment quality to ensure everything meets our standards.

7. Your Order Is Packed and Shipped

Your item is shipped directly from the nearest Gelato facility for faster delivery and lower environmental impact.
